Things to do in the Area.
Where do we start! The opportunities are virtually endless. Whether you want sandy beaches, country or coastal walks, to explore glorious formal gardens or picturesque fishing villages, Helston and the Lizard Peninsula can provide it. Or just pop round the corner to Falmouth and the Roseland Peninsula.
The region around Tregathenan is rich in history. Tales of Tin Miners, Smugglers and Wreckers abound. Did you know the very first Transatlantic Wireless broadcast was made from the Lizard Peninsula?
Cornwall is justifiably famous for its gardens and quite a number of these are within easy reach from Tregathenan. Trevarno, Trebah Trelissick and Helighan to mention just four, and don't forget Loe Pool and Penrose where you can combine a spot of bird watching with your picnic lunch in the garden.
We said there was a lot to tell you about.
If you would like a change from the historical and the gardens remind you the grass needs cutting at home, then head for one of the quiet coves along the Lizard Peninsula and have a relaxing day on the beach.
Or how about taking a look at some of the outstandingly
beautiful villages, such as Cadgwith, or Coverack, all just a
short drive from Tregathenan.
Be sure to take in Carrick Roads and maybe one of Henry VIII's castles. We would be happy to provide you with a suggested itinerary.
Kiddies (and young at heart adults) looking for some action? Almost on the doorstep you'll find Flambards Theme Park. Or how about braving the Tinners world with a trip down Poldark Mine.
For wild life enthusiasts and conservationists Gweek Seal Sanctuary is a must.

Downstairs you will find an open plan lounge/dining room with a well-appointed kitchen area including a gas cooker, fridge and a washer/drier.
A separate door opens from the lounge onto your own terrace area.
Also on the ground floor is your luxury bathroom featuring a Jacuzzi Bath, just the thing to relax in after an enjoyable day's walking or sightseeing. There's a shower over the bath as well as a heated towel rail and shaver point.
Upstairs, you will find two delightful dormer style bedrooms, both tastefully decorated and offering views across the fields towards the sea. The master bedroom has a charming pine double bed, dressing table and features exposed sections of the original granite walls. The second bedroom has twin 2' x 6' beds which adults are welcome to use.
Liz and Ian extend an invitation to you to make Tregathenan your holiday base for the Lizard Peninsula and surrounding area.
Tregathenan Country Cottages are arranged around the 17th Century Old Farmhouse and are the original four barns, situated around a sunny enclosed courtyard. The tranquil rural environment is enhanced by our position along a tarmac bridle path, where the bulk of the passing traffic has hooves!
Three of the Barns have been beautifully converted to provide four or five bed accommodation, each to a different design to retain their original charm and character. All three cottages are equipped to a very high standard, with colour TV and video, cd/radio/ cassette player, microwave cooker and for year round comfort they are all centrally heated.
Individual leaflets are enclosed giving detailed descriptions of each cottage.
The fourth Barn is arranged as a Visitor Centre /Playroom, with a wealth of information available about the local area. There is also a selection of items to entertain our younger visitors while Mum and Dad relax in the sunshine. We also have a small complimentary video library available for your use.
You'll find a Welcome Pack in your cottage, which gives
further suggestions.
