A French Holdiay house for rental in Carcassonne

CARCASSONNE - Located at the heart of the Toulouse-Montpellier-Barcelone triangle, at the crossroads of two major traffic roads dating back to the most ancient times, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, from the Cévennes to the Pyrénées mountain range where the Aude has its source, Carcassonne blooms in the plains of the lower valley, inviting you to walk in and out of its streets. Discover its history, its local cuisine, its wines, or simply enjoy the scenery.

From the Bastide Saint-Louis to the medieval Walled City, Carcassonne offers a wealth of monuments to visit and discover!
You can take a leisurely stroll along the streets and be charmed by the buildings and the people you'll meet along the way; or you can be accompanied by the interpretive guides from the Tourist Office, who are intent on restoring the memory of their city.

SOUTH WEST FRANCE - This area of France provides a multitude of activities and places to visit. There are the historic towns of Toulouse, Beziers, Castelnaudry, Pezanas, Montpellier, Nimes, Narbonne plus the many medieval and hill top villages. The wine, fruit and many local festivals are waiting for you. In the winter, there is skiing in the Ariege and Pyrenees with the nearest ski resort about 1 ½ hours drive. Walking and climbing in the mountains, winter and summer, is an alternative.

For those who like the sun, sand and sea, there are many resorts near Narbonne about 1 hours drive away. There you can also enjoy fish and shell fish meals at very reasonable prices.

The Suburb Trivalle - The only pathway leading from the Bastide Saint-Louis to the City is the winding road, carved in stone improved by man, with a history of more than 2000years: “LA RUE TRIVALLE”. Since it was constructed, this artery has seen the changing of populations, a haven where Wisgoths, Romans, Saracens, Italians, Spaniards, and Spanish gypsies have crossed paths. It’s most beautiful houses date from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, such as the Hotel Pelletier and the Maison Montmorrency. Our house is situated about mid-way along the rue. So that you will feel completely at home during your stay in Carcassonne, everything that you expect to find in your own home is provided.

If you prefer to eat at home you can purchase your food at the Hypermarkets situated in the industrial zones on the outskirts of the city. They are all very good but the quality and prices do vary slightly. Alternatively the general stores, on the left hand side of rue Trivalle walking towards the Bastide, has a very good stock of supplies.
Bread
A bread van comes at about 9 am every morning, except Sunday, and you will hear him sounding his horn. The baguettes are very good. If you miss him, there is a Patisserie/Boulangerie (Cesar Anton) in rue Trivalle on the right towards the Old Bridge and after the hotel on the left. It is about 3 minutes walk (closed Monday).
Shopping
Apart from the general store and the Patisserie in rue Trivalle, there are many shops in the Bastide St Louis a 10 minute walk across the Old Bridge. The main Market Day is Saturday (morning), in Place Carnot. There is also a market on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The covered market near the Place Carnot (every morning) sells cheese, meat and a wide selection of fish.

Supermarkets and Hypermarkets are situated in industrial zones on the outskirts of Carcassonne.

Salvaza (near the Airport) - Geant, Intermarche, Lidl (the latter two are situated further down the road towards Centre Ville).
Toulouse Road—E. Leclerc Hypermarket, sports super stores, clothes stores.
Cite 2—Turn right out of the one way street in the direction of
