Souce is situated about 15 minutes from the main market town of Mayenne and the same distance to the small town of Gorron.(Twinned with Hayling Island). Ambrieres Les Vallees is about 10 minutes from Souce and has a beautiful lake and country walk area. Boats are allowed on the lake. There is also an outdoor swimming pool in the park area. It is also possible to hire a horse if needed. Mont St Michel (about a 46 miles drive away) is a beautiful Monastery Island town with it’s own shopping area and museum. There is also 2 miles away, the beautiful Flower Village of St. Fraimbault, with its floral bedecked streets, boating lake, tabac, food store, and excellent restaurant and bar. Bagnole de l’Orne, (17 miles away) an old spa town of great character is well worth a visit too.
Souce is a small village of roughly 400 inhabitants, there is a church, a school and a Mairie. Locally, Ambrieres serves the community with shops and a little market on Saturday. There is a Poste, restaurants and bars, a waterfall and a museum to visit too. Also about 15 miles from the house is Mayenne with it's town square market on Monday and Saturday.. Great shops if you need retail therapy. Restaurant's in the square will suit all sorts of tastes, so why not try more than one during your holiday. Gorron, 15 minutes in the opposite direction to Ambrieres, also offers a supermarket and a great sports bar to have lunch. There are nice walks all around the area, so take advantage and take a picnic with you. Enjoy the scenery and the smell of real-air, fresh air that is.

Notes on accommodation: The house is furnished with three large sofas in the lounge. There is also a further sitting room off the kitchen which doubles as a play room for the kids. In the lounge is satellite tv, DVD/Cd, player, There is a wood burning fire and central heating. Double doors open up to the back garden where there is a children's play frame. The garden is enclosed and private, so the kids can run wild out there. Back inside the house again, the dining room table will seat 10 people, plus the kitchen has a breakfast table to sit at least 4 people. The kitchen also has a dishwasher, microwave and electric fan oven and gas hob. The washing machine is situated in the laundry room which is at the bottom of the stairs. The downstairs bath/shower room can also be found here. The master bedroom is a kingsize with en-suite shower room. There is also satellite tv in this room and a mezzanine area with a view over the local countryside. The other double room has double window door which looks over the countryside too. The doors are secured with an added security barrier on the outside. The other two rooms have single beds, one room has a play area on the mezzanine. This is a large house with lots of rooms, so no one should be short of there own space. We do ask that people treat it with care, as this is also our family home when we are in France.
There are a number of bicycles for your use, children's and adults.
There is also a further cottage on site if needed. This will only be let out to the same party. There will never be two parties on site. This will make it possible for a further 5 people to stay at the property. The cottage has two bedrooms, shower room, kitchen, lounge with satellite tv and separate dining room. This is a lovely cottage and ideal for a small family holiday.
We have a no smoking policy for the house. Please feel free to smoke outdoors. Its not fair to other guests when they arrive to a house smelling of cigarette smoke. I am sure you will understand this and use the gardens.

A £200 refundable breakages deposit and a £250 booking deposit are required when your booking is made. The balance to be paid no later than 6 weeks prior to your holiday booking.
We supply bedlinen but unfortunately not towels, except under special circumstances.

The exterior of the house has a private garden and swimming pool, for the sole use of residents. There are various fruit trees for residents to help themselves to during the season, including Cherries, Damson, Peaches, Apples and Pears too. There are views of the countryside all around the cottage. The location of the cottage is in traditional Mayenne farming country and extremely rural and peaceful. With just the sound of the occasional tractor to remind you where you are! It's a safe environment for children, and the lane, which passes the cottage, serves only the next-door farmhouse. Because the terrain is gently rolling and the lanes quiet, cycling and walking from the cottage is popular. However, sandy beaches, and canoeing are all a short drive away; and of course, being in France, there are good restaurants and local markets abound. You can take a drive to Mont St Michel, or Le Mans for great shopping. There's lot to do, details are in the house welcome books.
