Situated half way between the historic departmental cities of Rodez and Albi means easy access to both of these fabulous cities which provide wonderful architecture, rambling backstreets and dozens of pavement cafes and restaurants to suit all pockets. In the immediate area are a number of bastide towns, Sauveterre, Monesties, and of course the well know Cordes-sur-Ciel. Walking -The countryside around the property offers superb walking environments with a whole wealth of flora and fauna. Waymarked paths are accessible from the property.
Cycling - not for the novice, but the quiet country roads offer serious cyclists an ideal area to explore.
Children - we are 20mins from the Cap de Couverte complex - an amazing convertion of a disused opencast mine, offering dryslope skiing, skateboard/bike park, luge, longest zip -line ride in europe,swimming, horseriding and waterskiing. 15mins from a large lake offering a beach, supervised swimming areas, windsurfing, sailing, fishing + canoeing. 4 mins away from Viaur river for fishing and canoes to hire.
There are numerous animal parks and small zoos in easy reach, including the unique Micropolis insect park. There are local horse riding schools for trekking. And during the high season there is a market available on a daily basis at one of the nearby towns, including nocturnal farmers markets.
Booking notes
Booking is usually by e-mail or telephone. We supply terms and conditions and booking forms on request. A deposit is payable to secure booking and full payment is required 6 weeks prior to arrival date. We do offer additional services including welcome meals, Table d'Hote, babysitting, drop off + pick ups to restaurants for a small charge payable in Euros on site. There is a heating supplement of 50 euros for heaters should guests require additional heating. (wood + coal supplied free).
Changeover day
Changeover times are Sat 10am departure, 4pm arrival. Out of high season changeover days are flexible with mid week stays also possible allowing guests to take advantage of the exceptionally low mid-week Ryan air flights in to Rodez.
Golf
There are golf courses at both Rodez and Albi 30 mins from the property.
Beach
A lake beach with supervised swimming, sailing, windsurfing an canoe hire is situated 15 minutes drive time from the property.
Accessibility
The courtyard is flat and covered with round pebbles. There is a slope down to the pool area + play grounds. Some of the staircases are quite steep and may not be sutable for people who have very limited mobiity.
Outside
The farm complex is large and is situated on the edge of a small hamlet overlooking the Viaur valley. The grounds are shared with the resident English owners. A large 12x6m swimming pool was added to the property in summer 2006 and is completed with fencing to comply with French regulations. The views from the pool side are beautiful. Despite being a shared complex, there is plenty of space for privacy. Older visiting children may use residents adventure playground which is situated below the pool, younger visitors can make full use of the toddler area located in the main grounds.
