La Thiaumerie is in an area of Normandy known as the Bocage, a network of sunken lanes and hedgerows in dairy farmland and apple orchards from which the famous Normandy cider is made. WIthin less than an hour's drive of La Thiaumerie are the British and American landing beaches of World War 2, the beautiful medieval town of Bayeux, famous for its cathedral and the Bayeux tapestry; Caen, with it's fantastic museum, the Memorial de Caen, also the world heritage site of Mont St MIchel and the lovely seaside town of Granville, birthplace of Christian Dior.

La Thiaumerie is a 270 year old traditional stone house set deep in the heart of the beautiful Normandy countryside. Surrounded by diary farmland and apple orchards the house is set in half an acre of gardens with a sun terrace, small rose garden and outdoor table tennis in summer.

Type	Description
Bedrooms:	The Toile de Jouy bedroom is a double bedroom located on the ground floor of the property. The Picardie room is a pale pink and cream very romantic double bedroom on the first floor, overlooking the garden and courtyard. This room is also large enought to accommodate a cot for a baby. The Grenier is our largest double bedroom with a comfortable two-seater settee overlooking the garden and courtyard. Within the room there is a staircase to the second floor where there is a twin-bedded attic room for children. There is also a campbed available for this room, making the two rooms together a comfortable family suite for up to 5 people.
Bathrooms:	The Toile de Jouy shower room/WC was refurbished in the Sping of 2008 and has a new 90 x 90cm shower cubicle, toilet and sink unit. The Picardie bathroom adjoins the Picardie room and has a shower over the bath, a toilet and sink. The Grenier shower is a large 120 x 90cm shower unit with sink and toilet and is located within the main double bedroom of the Grenier suite.
Living Rooms:	There is a cosy sitting room on the ground floor for the exclusive use of our guests, with music, books and in winter a lovely wood-burning stove.
Cleaning/towels/linen/maid Service:	Bed linen and towels are included in our prices. Bed linen is changed weekly and towels every two or three days.

Travel
It is essential to have a car when staying at La Thiaumerie as we are 3km from the nearest village and we are 16km from the main twon of Saint Lo. Cherbourg is just over an hour's drive, Caen is 50 minutes, Le Havre and St Malo are both 90 minutes. Ryanair has daily flights to Dinard airport from Stansead and East Midlands and is 75 minutes from La Thiaumerie.

Distances
Saint Lo is 16km, Villedieu les Poeles is 20km, Bayeux 40km, Mont St Michel 60km, Caen 50km.

Booking notes
We ask for full payment at time of reservation for one night stays. For stays up to 4 nights we ask for the first night's stay as a deposit and for longer stays a 50% deposit is required; the balance to be paid on departure.

Changeover day
We ask guests to arrive between 4.30pm and 7.30pm unless times outside of these hours have been agreed by prior arrangement. Guests must vacate rooms by 10.30am on the day of departure.

Golf
There are several good golf courses within a 40 minute drive of La Thiaumerie, including Vire, Granville, Agon-Coutainville and the famous Omaha Beach Golf Club.

Fishing
There are many opportunities for fishing in the numerous streams in the area and there are two lakes at nearby Torigni sur Vire, which is 6km from La Thiaumerie. Fishing licences can be obtained locally from any of several bar-tabacs.

Beach
The D-Day beaches are within 40 minutes drive of La Thiaumerie, as are the beautiful sandy and uncrowded beaches of the western Cotentin peninsula.

Accessibility
We have one room on the ground floor which is suitable for people with restricted mobility but due to it's size is probably not ideal for those who are totally wheelchair-bound. There are two steps from the ground floor level to the dining room.

Outside
There is a courtyard in front of the house providing adequate parking for all residents. In summer we have table tennis under cover of an open barn. The garden is approximately half an acre of grass, shrubs and flowers with several seating areas, including a sun terrace overlooking the valley and open farmland.
