The large house, which stands in its own courtyard with large gardens to side and rear, has been carefully restored leaving many original features such as exposed oak beams, oak flooring and stone flag floors. It has been divided into three with gites at either end and the English owners, Glynne & Lorna Helliwell who will be there to greet you, live in the centre with the B & B accommodation.
Each gite is well equipped with three bedrooms, fully fitted kitchen (including microwave and dishwasher), large lounge with dining area, bathroom with both bath and shower. They have their own private garden area with a wide range of garden furniture (including balancelle, garden tent, table, sun loungers, barbecue, etc) large above-ground pool and children's paddling pool. Use of an automatic washing machine also available at no extra charge. We also have a cot and high chair available if required together with plenty of play equipment, toys and games to keep children occupied.
Vanzay is in the Deux Sevres, approximately 35 minutes' drive south of Poitiers between Chaunay and Lezay. In the village there is a shop and a telephone box, approximately 2 minutes' walk.
Within easy driving distance there are lots of places to visit such as Futuroscope (a futuristic cinema theme park near Poitiers), La Vallee des Singes (a monkey theme park at Romagne, 15 mins), a freshwater lake with small beach at St Macoux, near Civray, Go-Karting at Rouille about 20 minutes away, motor racing weekends at L'Isle Jordain about 45 minutes away and plenty of towns with weekly markets/supermarkets. There are restaurants approximately 10 km away at Couhe and Chaunay.
