La Tranche has a large supermarket, a twice-weekly farmers’ market, numerous bakeries, greengrocers butchers and fish merchants.
La Tranche is 405km from Caen, 292km from St Malo, 271km from Tours, 63km from La Rochelle, and 35km from Lucon (nearest station).

La Tranches microclimate makes ideal growing conditions for fruit, flowers and vegetables.
Local produce can be seen growing and then on the stalls in the markets and shops.
The area is also famed for its seafood, particularly oysters.
One of the nicest local restaurants has about eight different ways of serving mussels or you can have straightforward moules frites!
There are plenty of caves offering wines from the area and further a field. Do also try pineau, the local aperitif.
Local sights are La Rochelle, Venise Vert, Futuroscope, St-Cyr Floral Park. Puy du Fou.
