Ski
Activities in the Chamonix Valley are varied and include superb skiing facilities for skiers of all aptitudes.It is renowned for its? wonderful snow and lift system that normally operate until the begining of May. Beginners/nursery slopes are close to the town, progressing from these to the ski runs at Le Tour and Les Houches. Intermediates- red runs are extensive and tend to be challenging and excellent for improving. The Vallee Blanche run is open from February each year, giving 20 kms of off-piste runs through beautiful mountain terrain. This run is accessible to the more confident intermediates, however a guide is essential. Advanced skiers will certainly be tested by powder bowls, bumps, gullies and off-piste areas.
Snowboarding- Chamonix has something for all levels starting at the snowboard park at Le Tour to a testing and exciting day on Les Grands Montets.
Winter in Chamonix for the non-skier does provide plenty of interest with shops, museums and markets as well as a host of other sporting activities and amenities at the sports centre including ice skating on the indoor Olymic rink and league ice hockey.
