The French Alps offers so much more than the increasing number of British skiers realise. Spring is so fresh and peaceful - with delightful flowers and wildlife. Flowers start to grow a few days after the snow clears. In spring, summer, and autumn the French Alps offer more holiday activities than we think you can find anywhere else - and the seasons are so different. Summer days can rival the Mediterranean but cool mountain air ensures a good nights rest. The walking and mountain biking on hundreds of well marked trails continues into November. Refer to our own website www.bycar.com to learn all about the area and facilities.

The French rate Combloux as one of their best holiday destinations, being wonderful for skiing in the winter or walking and a host of other activities in the summer or just enjoying the mountain air and spectacular scenery all year round. However, Combloux has avoided over-development and is still a beautiful and friendly village. It is not well known in the UK because our tour companies have not put their feet in. It was the first commune to install a ski lift and there were direct trains from Paris in the 1930's to stay in the grand Hotel Mont Blanc with its unbeatable view of the mountain range. For the ski season it is best to avoid the travel company crowded resorts or well advertised purpose built places. Take a car and go where the French go to satisfy their own love of skiing!

Our apartments are on the ground floor of an attractive pine clad chalet on a quiet site located beside pine woods and alpine meadows near to Combloux village. They are compact, and cosy in winter, and only a short walk to the nearest ski lift. A south facing private patio adds to the accommodation in summer. The room layout and equipment is very well suited for holidays. Our adjacent apartments are perfect for families and friends holidaying together and we are flexible on dates throughout the year. The site is in a peaceful location at the end of a road. There is ample free parking, communal green space, tennis and boules on site.

Type Description
Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with double bed. Cabine/bedroom 2 with twin bunk beds. Lounge has double (clic-clac) sofa bed.
Bathrooms: Bathroom with powerful shower over bath. Separate wc.
Kitchen: Kitchenette in lounge has double hot plates, microwave/grill and fridge/freezer.
Living Rooms: Lounge has sofa seating 3, dining table with 4 chairs and 2 stools, TV, DVD, radio, CD
Cleaning/towels/linen/maid Service: Bedlinen and tea towels are provided and changed weekly. Beds are made up for your arrival. Towels are optional at £5 per pair for laundry. You are required to clean apartment ready for next guests. Our manager always ensures quality at changeover.
Other: Ski locker and rubbish disposal in basement.
Sleeping capacity: Sleeps up to six in double bed, twin bunk beds and double sofa bed. Excellent for 2 adults, good for 4 adults or family of 6 with 2 children.

  Notes on accommodation:
Each has thermostatic electrical room heaters and its own independent hot water supply.
As is typical of French holiday apartments, they are compact when fully occupied. We do not accept more than four adults in the apartments for 6 or three in the studios for 4. The properties and prices are perfectly comfortable for two people! One of the bedrooms has twin bunk beds and also serves as the entrance “cabine”. However, the apartments do have three separate sleeping areas and the studios have two, all being separated by proper doors (not open mezzanines or sliding partitions). Young children are not specifically provided for but are allowed subject to careful control by parents.

Travel
By air
The nearest airport is Geneva - 60 kms via the A40 autoroute. There is a 75 minutes scheduled bus connection in winter but car hire is strongly advised to get the best of this area. Full directions on owner's website.
By car.
Combloux is just 8 kms off the autoroute from Geneva, which makes it probably the easiest top quality ski resort to drive to. We prefer to drive all the way from home because it is far more relaxing than humping baggage around air terminals. Once you've crossed the channel it is easy. Autoroutes all the way from Calais means only 7 hours driving plus stops then just 8 kms more of N road.

Megeve 4km, Sallanches 7km, Chamonix 26km, Albertville 36km, Geneva 60km, Annecy 65km.

Changeover day
Standard weeks changeover on Saturdays however bookings can be any number of days and changeover can be arranged any day of the week with 24 hour arrivals and departures. (Owners website www.bycar.com provides accurate price quote).

Golf
Megeve has a pleasant 18 hole mountain golf course which is in amazingly good condition in the summer (and part of the ski pistes in the winter). This is 5 kms from the apartments. There are also good courses within 30 to 60 minutes by car - at Chamonix, Giex, Annecy and Divonne (Geneva).

Beach
Although far from the coast, the Alps has hot summer days and popular lakes with beaches and water sports. Combloux has a new outdoor lido with superb views of Mont Blanc. This has made the national press, not least because the previous French Prime Minister takes his summer holidays in Combloux.

Ski
The local ski pistes are tree lined and very scenic with excellent facilities for families and beginners, and this is part of a huge area catering for all standards of skiers.
There is a free drag lift, 150m walk from our apartments, leading to La Cry area with ski school, creche etc. Here you can buy a local pass or wider area pass.
The local area is between Combloux, La Giettaz and Megeve villages. It has 100kms of beautiful tree lined pistes for all grades and superb views facing all compass directions (60 runs, 31 lifts).
The wider area also includes St-Gervais, St Nicholas and Les Contamines. This includes over 450 kms of pistes, 118 lifts, 36 mountain restaurants, 3 snowboard parks, and 260 snow cannons.
As if that was not enough, several other ski resorts including Chamonix, Flaine and Argentiere are well inside an hour by car.

Outside
Outside there is a private patio or balcony with patio furniture and a communal grassed area with private tennis court and boules area nearby. There is ample free parking around the site and in addition we have one underground garage that can be reserved free of charge. Ski lockers and rubbish disposal are available in the basements of the chalets.
