It is situated in the beautiful Giffre Valley nestling in the mountains of the Haute Savoie. Samoens is a centre for almost every outdoor activity: mountain walking, rock climbing, mountain biking, via ferrata, parapenting, horse riding, and the Giffre River cascading from Sixt through spectacular gorges to Samoens provides a picturesque setting for water sports: rafting, canoeing, and canyoning etc. A large park in the village offers tennis courts, open-air swimming pools and lakes for fishing and boating. Samoens also has a large botanical garden displaying over 4000 species of alpine plants and trees. There are many cafes and restaurants from where you can enjoy the beauty and charm of the village and there is a typical French Market every Wednesday. There are 260km of downhill skiing of all standards and a vast amount of cross-country skiing on specially traced pistes. The snow bowl at Samoens 1600 provides an excellent training area for beginners, who soon progress to the lovely tree lined routes. The more experienced skiers will enjoy the miles of superb skiing between the 5 resorts, taking in the magnificent scenery and spectacular views of the Mont Blanc range. The whole area has an excellent snow record. Other winter activities at Samoens include snowboarding, ski touring, ice climbing, snow walking on racquettes, parapenting and ice-skating. Le Feu is ideally suited for both mountain and village activities alike. It is only 400m from one of the main telecabines linking into the Grand Massif ski circuit and in good conditions it is possible to ski back to the farmhouse.
Accessibility
Outside
There is a large peaceful garden with a pond and BBQ’s. In summer we provide garden tables and chairs for each apartment and we also provide badminton and table tennis facilities. There are magnificent views from the garden over the Giffre Valley and towards the mountains and we have an adjoining car park for the use of guests. In winter you have a 400m walk across the field to the ski lift at Vercland which takes you into the Grand Massif ski area. When snow permits it is possible to ski back to Le Feu where the garden provides a safe area for sledging.
