Travel
We are about 60 minutes from Geneva Airport and approx 650 km (about 7 hrs from Calais). This means that this ski area is the closest major international ski resort to the UK (and of course from Geneva international airport too). A car is very useful but not essential - we can provide an affordable taxi service for our guests.
Distances
5 minutes to our mediaeval village of Samoëns, 45 minutes drive to Chamonix/Mt Blanc cable cars, 1 hour to Evian on Lake Geneva, 45 minutes to Megève, 1 hour to Lake Annecy and historic town.
Further details
Specialty ham and cheese and wine shops, 3 banks in the village, about 20 restaurants and 2 supermarkets within easy 15 minutes drive. Summer Sports:-
In summer, there is so much to do around Samoëns such as swimming, climbing, golf, hiking, mountain biking, mountaineering, paragliding, sightseeing and white-water rafting. We can give you advice on all these activities: Lac Bleu Recreational Park, Lac Bleu is situated between Verchaix and Morillon and offers a multitude of activities for every age group. Fishing, swimming, tennis, horse riding, petanque and so on. Something for everybody. In winter you can cross country ski and toboggan here! Mountain Biking: There are many marked trails and some of the best mountain bike trails in Europe can be found in the Grand Massif and surrounding areas, for all levels. You can fly with your bike on-board quite cheaply or you can rent a mountain bike from several rental operators. There are easier trails on the valley floor as well as more difficult ones using the cable car or easy access roads by car. Adventure Playgrounds: 2 adventure grounds within 10 mins of the chalet with well graded levels and secure operation. 40 mins drive away in Chamonix, there is a larger adventure playground. There are bungees, fairground stalls, swings and a downhill toboggan and a 'flying fox'. Ballooning: Les Carroz balloons are mixture of excitement and serenity and offer spectacular flights across valley and peak - one of the most famous in France. Climbing and Via Ferrata: Climbing in the Mont Blanc area and the Grand Massif tempts you with high mountains, famous Chamonix granite and numerous limestone cliffs. For the less skilled, there's the Via Ferrata (the 'iron way' - a secured fixed cable ascent) which any fit person can achieve as a climbing novice. There are several courses and they are free! Donkey trekking: Wonderful activity to keep children.

Changeover day
Changeover is normally Saturday but may under agreed circumstances be any day. Arrival is normally after 4pm and departure by 10am (packed bags may be left outside these times).
Golf
We can recommend several courses in the region because golf in the Alps is popular with holiday makers who want to take in the mountain air while enjoying a leisurely round of 9 or 18 holes. Nearby is the highest course in the Alps whilst Chamonix and Evian have excellent 18 hole courses.
Beach
Nearby Lac Bleu offers children a sandy safe beach. Within an hour of Lake Geneva and Lake Annecy have an abundance of swimming and sailing.
Ski
Our property is on the sunny side of the valley with beautiful views across the village (we are 100 meters higher) and there is a new high-speed lift from the valley floor, that takes you straight onto the main ski runs within 8 minutes (at the start of all those beautifully pisted tracks).
We are at Samoëns, which is one of 5 linked resorts with 265 kilometers of beautifully groomed and spectacular ski tracks. This is the "Grand Massif" and you can choose to have access to just 1, 3 or all 5 resorts on one hands-free ticket. The high ski-tracks have views across to Mt Blanc and south to Italy. The lower ones have lovely long runs through pine-clad slopes down to the villages below and you can choose to ski between 5 to12 kilometers in single uninterrupted runs. You also have the choice to ski at Les Gets and Morzine, which are both only 30 minutes from our chalet.
Accessibility
Outside
The garden has 3 terraces with seating and barbequeing facilities.
There are lots of attractive walking trails within easy reach of the chalet and access by foot to the village.
