Travel
La Chapelle is 1 1/2 hours drive from Geneva airport, located on the French/Swiss border just below Evian at Lake Geneva. We can arrange for transfers from the airport or from nearby train stations Thonon-les-bains or Aigle in Switzerland. In the winter we can provide drop offs/pick ups to the Chatel slopes and there is also a free bus service. We recommend having a car in the summer to make full use of the surrounding area.
We are between a 9-11 hour drive from Calais. We can provide you with road directions & toll costs.
Distances
We are 40 minutes from Lake Geneva, 40 minutes from Montreaux in Switzerland, 1 hour from Annecy and 1 1/2 hours from Chamonix.
Further details
The opportunities for mountain biking and road cycling here are endless: There are marked paths to follow in the valley and up in to the mountains. And the 24 bike friendly Portes du Soleil chairlifts and the Super Chatel gondola are open through the summer to give you access to 650km of marked tracks and 4 bike parks and downhill trails.
Watersports on the River Dranse from La Chapelle down to the shores of Lake Geneva. Rafting; Hydrospeed; Canoe-raft; Tubing and Airyak - Twister
For people who like to have their head in the clouds but their feet on the ground! La Chapelle and Chatel both offer many rock climbing and Via Ferrata walls. Another viewpoint of this fantastic place.

Ski
La Chapelle at 1010m-2432m is the French starting point of the Portes du Soleil. This huge ski domain boasts 650km of alpine ski pistes in 14 French and Swiss resorts, including Chatel, Avoriaz, Morzine and Les Gets. These resorts are each diverse in style and age as they are in ski terrain.
Le Duplex is opposite La Chapelle's own attractive, gladed ski area, - 'Cret Beni'. This ski area has 8 lifts serving over 10 pistes. The pistes are manly blue and green, so great for beginners and children. The ESF ski school is located at the bottom of the slopes. There are two slope side restaurants but if you preferred to lunch at home, it is only a 5 minute walk back to Le Duplex.
La Chapelle's telecabine takes you up to ski-lifts linking you to the Portes du Soleil through Torgon and Morgins in Switzerland, and Super-Chatel.
Your hosts or the free bus service from outside Le duplex will take you to Chatel's Linga or Pre-la-Joux lifts in just 15 minutes. These lifts make Avoriaz, Morzine & Les Gets easily accessible via pistes and chairs. All these areas have their own snowparks, rails and halfpipes.
As well as down hill skiing/boarding, the Portes du Soleil has 35km of Nordic Ski paths where you can discover winter nature in all it's beauty. There are cross-country pistes 'Ski de Fond' and snowshoe paths 'raquettes' to follow. Different ski passes are available for the different areas.
Accessibility
A ramp to the entrance door and a lift takes you up to the third floor of the building which is the main guest area of Le Duplex, including the dining and living space, bathrooms and bedrooms. Unfortunately the bathrooms and bedrooms have not been adapted for wheelchair users, but are all very generous in size and have wide door widths.
Outside
We have a large balcony, the full length of the building, with views up and down the Abondance Valley, the peaks of the Mont de Grange, our local slopes and of Chatel.
As well as our double garage there is are ample car parking spaces in our external car park.
Our gardens are flowery meadows in the spring and summer, which are transformed into sledging fields and a cross country Ski de Fond piste when it snows.
