Travel
The village is about one hour's drive from the main airport at Brindisi, which is served by Ryanair flights from London Stansted. The airport at Bari is about an hour further north.
It is perfectly possible to spend a holiday without leaving the village, relying purely on foot power, and there are regular buses to the larger centres of population, such as Ugento, Gallipoli, Lecce and Taranto.
However, hiring a car obviously produces greater flexibility of travel, and as the apartment has its own secure and private garage, this presents no difficulties. Cars can be hired either at the airports or locally in the village.
Distances
Torre San Giovanni has all the amenities necessary for a good holiday, but the region boasts some wonderfully attractive cities and tourist attractions. The regional capital Lecce some 45km away is characterised by its golden Baroque buildings and is known as the 'Florence of the South' , while Gallipoli, with its picturesque harbour and interesting histoiry, and Otranto, with its impressive castle, are well worth a visit.
Further details
Torre San Giovanni has a full range of amenities, although outside of peak-season (July and August) these are somewhat curtailed. Many restaurants and bars do stay open throughout the year, but the choice is far greater in high summer.
The village has all you could need: shops, supermarkets, fresh food shops, coffee shops, fresh-caught fish from the harbourside shop, banks and cash machines, a petrol station, chemist's shop, internet cafe, and much more.
Although few people speak English as most visitors tend to be Italians, they do their best to be helpful and must be amiong the friendliest in all of Italy.

Half the rental must be paid to confirm the booking; this is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. The balance is payable one month before the start of your stay. We also respectfully request a further payment of £100 as a guarantee against damage. This is refundable at the end of your stay.
We operate a strict policy of no pets and no smoking.

Changeover day
Normal changeover day is Saturday, although we are able to be flexible on this, especially away from peak season.
Fishing
The apartment is 100m from the beach and only about 15 minutes' walk from Torre San Giovanni's pretty little harbour, which is used by fishermen and pleasure sailors. Fishing boats can be hired locally.
Beach
The crystal clear waters of the Salento region are among the finest in all of Italy and are perfect for swimming, bathing and a variety of water sports. Equipment can be hired locally.
Accessibility
No special facilities have been installed for wheelchair users. The ground floor has easy access but the staircase would prohibit access to the lower floor.
Outside
There is a large, private terrace extending around three sides of the apartment so there is always an area to find shade when the sun is at its hottest.
The terrace has an after-beach shower, tables and chairs for outside dining, a barbecue and a washing machine.
