The beautiful spa town of Sciacca is situated on Sicily's southern coast between Selinute & Agrigrento. Its historic beginnings date back to the 9th century when the Saracans first settled here and was subsequently expanded during Roman times. There is an interesting mix of ancient architecture to be seen in narrow streets of the historic centre. The active fishing port offers beautiful views across the Mediterranean and a plethora of delicious seafood restaurants & cafes to relax and immerse yourself in the true Sicilian experience.

Sites to visit while staying in Casale degli Ulivi include Selinunte and The Valley of Temples in Agrigento. The Arab-Norman art in Palermo is only a 1½ hour drive away (94 Km).

Casale degli Ulivi is a privately owned estate of 20 hectares of olive groves, fruit orchards and pasture, located at the foot of the Sicani Mountains, 25 minutes from the costal spa town of Sciacca. There are two houses available for guests, both sleeping 6 people, which may be rented on a self-catering basis. Alternatively why not take advantage of the delicious Sicilian cooking on offer from the owners, who are warm and friendly hosts. Marzio is an exquisite cook, passionate about using fresh, locally grown produce. Susan produces her own liqeurs made with fresh strawberries and mint. Mouth-watering meals can be prepared for you, whilst you relax and enjoy a glass of refreshing, locally produced wine. Breakfasts and packed lunches can also be provided.

Casale degli Ulivi offers two houses for summer guests which can be rented on either a self catering basis or you can choose to take advantage of Marizo's exquisite Sicilian cooking.

Notes on accommodation:
The houses are light, spacious and deliciously cool in summer, with breath taking views from every window. One house, with two bedrooms, has private access to a roof terrace, whilst the other has three bedrooms with access to a terrace in the grounds. Both houses are very simply furnished and each bathroom is equipped with a shower, toilet, bidet and basin. You are free to wander around the grounds and immerse yourself in the beautiful, endless countryside which surrounds Casale degli Ulivi.

The charming and hospitable owners, Marzio and Susan, live next door in a house they have lovingly renovated themselves from a tumble-down ruin, that was once the summer residence of a local nobleman. Both of them are great lovers of nature and expert horsemen. They are a fascinating mine of information about the area, it's history and, in particular the local flora and fauna. They can provide you with useful tips for interesting days out, great cycling routes and the best beaches. If you would like to discover the beauty of the surrounding area on foot they would be delighted to act as your walking guides.
