Podere Patrignone is a beautiful old 15th Century estate ('podere') which has been lovingly and tastefully restored. Patrignone is set on top of it's own hill reached by a long, winding private road that ends at Patrignone. It is set in 150 acres of forest, olives and vines, with uninterrupted 360 degree views over the Tuscan valley. It's the perfect setting for peaceful walks, sunbathing, cycling and exploring. It has a lovely pool with one of the best vistas in Tuscany. Wake up to the mists rising through the trees and the beautiful views of surrounding vineyards, or catch an amazing sunset over the towers of San Gimignano and the snow-capped Apenines on the horizon. It is divided into six self-contained apartments or villas, all beautifully furnished in a traditional style.

This is a lovely, bright and airy first-floor apartment. It is furnished beautifully, with a good-sized kitchen-diner complete with large relaxing sofa, and two lovely double rooms, both en-suite, one with views over the neighbouring olives and forests, and the other with sunset views of the Tuscan valley as far as San Gimignano and the Apenines. You have a small terrace overlooking the central villa's court-yard, as well as full use of the large Terracotta Terrace with breathtaking sunset views across the valley towards the sparkling towers of San Gimignano the snowy peaks of Abetone. Guests often have their sunset drinks here, or take their evening meals here under the stars. The natural stone-tiled pool area is 50 metres from the house, and offers the same amazing vistas, as well as the opportunity to watch the cheeky swallows having an evening dip in the pool. If you like peace and quiet, you won't be disappointed. At night, there's nothing but the sound of the crickets.

Food at Patrignone
We are happy to cater for you and your party. We have been cooking for our guests for nearly 20 years, and we’d like to think that we know a thing or two about Tuscan food. We have a fabulous kitchen and a lovely sunken dining room (capacity 34) with a fantastic terracotta-arched ceiling. We serve a wide variety of typical Tuscan (and other Italian) home-cooked food, sometimes with a slight modern twist. We sometimes serve part or all of your meal out on the Terracotta Terrace, depending on the time of year. Meals need to be booked in advance and paid for locally. A typical 4-course meal (with wine) costs €40 per head.

A daily cleaning service is available at extra cost (30 €/day for up to 3 hours), and laundry service is available on request (approx 8€/load). A returnable security deposit will be payable along with your final instalment.

Easter will be charged as High Season: 16th-30th March 2008. A Winter Supplement for firewood/heating may be charged in cold months.

Travel
Patrignone is right in the middle of Chianti, at the epicenter of Tuscany's cultural treasures, just 10 minutes from the beautiful hill-top town of Castellina in Chianti, with its full compliment of restaurants, cafes and shops (and a small supermarket). Siena is just 35 minutes away, and Florence 40 minutes in the other direction, San Gimignano is 30 mins away, with Volterra the next village along. You really couldn't pick a more central location. There's no doubt that you'll need a car to get the most of Chianti's nooks and crannies, but if you feel like venturing further afield, within a 1.5-hour drive you'll find white sandy beaches, typically beautiful seaside resorts, dozens of hot springs, and the majesty of the snow-covered Apennines clearly visible from Patrignone's terracotta terrace. And if you're into cycling, walking, nature-watching, or ballooning, these activities and more can be easily organised. Just let us know what your interests are, and we'll give you some options.

Further details
A four-course evening meal can be prepared and served, either in the Frantoio Dining Room or out on the Terracotta Terrace, weather permitting, for 40€/head including wine. Please make your requirements known at least 7 days prior to arrival, though ad-hoc arrangements can be made later, and we will always try to accommodate your wishes, if we can. As well as the accommodation listed here we have two other apartments. Forno is a beautiful 1 bedroom apartment with its own outdoor area, kitchen-diner-living space, and bathroom. It is not huge, but we think it's one of the prettiest apartments at Patrignone and is a favourite with family and friends. And Caminetto is a lovely 1st floor 2-bedroom apartment with a lovely kitchen diner and a large open fire. It also has a small balcony overlooking the ivy-covered courtyard.

There are plenty of deck-chairs and sun-loungers, as well as umbrellas, the natural shade produced by trees surrounding the pool, and a shower. NB There is no pool supervision, so NO children under the age of 14 may use the pool unsupervised.
