:: ABOUT THIS PROPERTY
The following information has been added
by the owner of this property:
Vinca lies in the Valle del Lucido, at an altitude of 850 metres. Vinca and its surrounds form part of the Parco Naturale delle Alpi Apuane, an area of unsurpassed natural beauty in Lunigiana. Neighbouring towns are Equi Terme, renowned for its spa baths and cave systems, and Monzone, whose train station offers frequent access to the Italian rail system. Follow the 'strada del vino di Toscana' from Aulla and you will come to Vinca!

In springtime, the meadows fill with wildflowers, butterflies abound and songbirds fill the air. The area is a paradise for walkers and trekkers, with well marked trails for both experienced and less accomplished walkers. Picture the 'Sound of Music' and you will get some idea of the terrain.

A short stroll to the bakery, bread hot from the 'forno' savoured on the terrace with strong coffee or rustic wine; birdsong in harmony with the mood of the day.

Vinca is close to the Cinque Terre, Florence, Pisa, Lucca and La Spezia. The Gulf of Poets.

Medieval village high in Apuan Alps.

Casa Rosa is a two bedroom village house, dating from the 17th century, set between the spectacular peaks of Pizzo d'Uccello and Mt. Garnerone, two of the highest mountains in the Apuan Alps.

Exit the front door and find the terrace, a medieval courtyard used for storing and drying chestnuts.

To the rear of the terrace is the drying house, where each October a log fire is lit and maintained for six weeks to dry the village harvest.

Take a deep breath, and look up at the 1800 metre peaks where Michelangelo travelled to find the perfect piece of Carrara marble for the statue of David; look down over the village rooftops and think of the generations who trekked each day over those mountains to mine the marble.

The village boasts three bakeries, and the aroma of baking bread fills the morning air.
