General description...
We are happy to share our family's historic country house with guests from around the world. We let only one apartment totally independent and very private. Only you and us in a large property, 54 acres of unspoilt country side in the hills (2130 ft.a.s.l.).Casa Francescani offers a quiet peaceful and beautiful retreat, yet is only 20' away from the A1 Rome/Florence Motorway and from a train station on the main line Milano/Roma. Visit nearby cities and attractions by day and return to the cool air of peaceful country evening. We are in the centre of the most beautiful artistic and cultural sites of Tuscany, Umbria and Alto Lazio.
Accommodation description...
The apartment ( 750 sq. ft.) is very comfortable and cosy with old country style furniture, terracotta floor tiles and wooden beams. It includes a living room with a fireplace, two double bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, and a well-equipped kitchenette.
Bedrooms: There is a king-size bed in the master bedrooms; two single beds in the second bedroom, (one single bed can be added with a 15% extra charge).
Pool description
The pool is private, large (33x16 ft)and with a beautiful view.
Outside description
There is a large private terrace with a barbecue for eating and cooking outside, and many other opportunities to relax in the open air ( table tennis, volley..).
Walk in the garden, relax by the pool or visit our stables, where we raise an ancient breed of Italian horses. You can enjoy beautiful sunset, panoramic walks, just outside the door, bathing at lakes Bolsena and Trasimeno or relax at the hot spring in San Casciano Open the door and you are in the wild Umbrian countryside, with panoramic views as you walk or hike.
Local attraction
The villa is near Monte Giove, a medieval village with a 13th Century castle and The Scarzuola un old San Francis convent (1218) and now a very attractif site and garden. Infact, the famous architect Tommaso Buzzi designed and built at the side of the convent an ideal city conceived as a theatre structure.
We are in the heart of a very interesting area: Orvieto is half an hour away; Assisi, Cortona, Monteplulciano, Todi and Perugia are under an hour away; Arezzo, Siena and Viterbo are one hour away; Florence and Rome are one and a half hours away.
Local festivals and folklore events are held in every village during July, August, and September.
Umbria Jazz festival in Orvieto in winter and in Perugia and Trasimeno in summer.
If you are fond of archaeology or ancient ruins you can examine the most important Etruscan archaeological finds, (starting with Chiusi, only half an hour away), and you can follow the most important spiritual journeys of the life of San Francesco, first of all Assisi and Gubbio, (less than an hour away).
In the guest apartment you will find a bookcase with a choice of guidebooks and a draft with our suggestion for restaurants and taverns, shops and markets selling antiques, local crafts and typical products of Umbria and Tuscany.
We are also happy to share our food and wine expertise with you as you taste the Italian wine and cuisine.
