Monte da Quinta sits conveniently on the edge of the town of Castro Verde. Just a five minute walk takes you into its central streets, with shops, bars and resturantes. Castro Verde is located within the centre of the lower Alentejo region.

Sixty minutes east is the beautiful Spanish border.
SOUTH
Forty minutes south lies the popular Algarve Region.

This cottage is furnished to a high standard. It has a large cool spacious comfortable lounge and dining area complete with a TV, DVD and CD player. A selection of DVDs, books and board games.
Cleaning/towels/linen/maid Service:
Fresh linen is provided and includes pool towels for the use at Monte da Quinta only. We provide initial bin liners, liquid soap and toilet rolls. All towels are replaced mid week. Mid week housekeeping and linen change can be arranged for an extra cost.
Utility room:
Laundry room facilities include washing machines and a tumble dryer.
Other:
For extra comfort this cottage has under floor heating for the winter months. To keep the cottage cool we restored the original dry stone walls which are 1/2 meter thick, in addition this cottage has cooling fans in the bedrooms. This cottage has a piping hot Solar water system.
The cottage is finished with traditional white washed walls and beautiful brick arches. It has terracotta floors throughout with wooden shuttered windows, vaulted beamed ceilings and an open fireplace. This cottage is built on solid rock and therefore the room levels do vary with one step between some rooms.
The cottage has a further landscaped terrace, a brick BBQ and chimney and provides immediate access to the swimming pool.

A door from the kitchen at the rear of the property provides access to a private breakfast terrace. Double doors at the front of the property open from the lounge onto a private covered dining terrace. This terrace is complete with a large circular dining table, cane furniture and hammock. A vantage point for the stunning southerly views over miles of un-spoilt Alentejo plains.

Flights
There are now many options for flights from most main and provincial UK airports to Faro (1hour) or Lisbon (1.5 hour). For the best prices, you are advised to book well in advance. Most companies run promotions throughout the year.
Beja Airport is due to be completed by the end of 2008, just a
30 minute drive from Castro Verde.

Working with our preferred partners, we are able to offer the following outdoor activities at a very special rate. Monte da Quinta will handle the booking for you and make all the necessary arrangements.
Various activities are available from Monday to Friday throughout the year. Please consider the Alentejo climate, some may be more appropriate than others depending on the time of year.

Booking notes
Rates - Our rates are per week. The cost for only 1 week is based on the date of arrival. Subsequent weeks will be charged at a different rate should they fall into a different pricing period.
Payment - We accept the following payment: Sterling cheque and direct bank transfer and Euros direct bank transfer only. We require your 40% non refundable deposit when making your reservation. Reservations are not guaranteed until we are in receipt of your deposit. The balance must be received 6 weeks prior to your arrival and we reserve the right to cancel a holiday where payment has not been received 6 weeks before the commencement date. All bookings made within 4 weeks of arrival must be paid in full.

Wine Tourism
Herdade da Malhadinha Nova winery and vineyards welcomes visitors for guided tours, tasting, lunch or diner. Visitors have the opportunity to buy wine and other produced products. Riding, biking and fishing are other activities that can be arranged. We have a good relationship with the proprietors and are happy to arrange parties to visit. Ten minute drive from Castro Verde.
Cliff Richard
Sir Cliff has known and loved the Algarve for over 40 years. His idea to plant a vineyard at his property Quinta do Moinho provided the genesis point for the Vida Nova range of wines. Sir Cliff is very much involved in producing the wine. When in Portugal he is often seen getting his hands dirty in the vineyard or indeed his feet dirty in the winery.

The uniquely designed pool measures 11.5 x 5 meters and is a level 1.4 meters deep. Situated within the landscaped areas to the front of the cottages, with its elevated position providing a fantastic vantage point for the stunning southerly views.
No Chemical Chlorines
The pool uses a balance of natural salt rather than chemical chlorines, the water contains approximately 10 percent the salt level of ocean water.
Children’s Shallow Play Pool
Incorporated in the main pool is a 4 meter circular shallow children’s
play pool with seating.
Landscaped Grounds
Upper Pool Terrace
Special non slip pavers surround the pool area. Ample loungers, sun shades and seating are provided.
Lower Terrace
This terrace offers a little more shelter, seclusion and privacy although still maintains a elevated position with stunning views of Monte da Quinta and the surrounding meadows.
BBQ Terraces
Each cottage has a large private terrace with a charcoal BBQ providing the perfect elevated position to wine and dine at any time during the day or evening.
Farm Animals
Explore the 13 acres (4.5 hectares) of Olive, Almond, Fig and Pomegranate trees. Visit the animals and vegetable garden (horta) with its Orange grove and historic Arabian Artesian well.
Boules or "Petanque"
Set within the landscaped gardens we have created a boules or "petanque" pitch, an ideal way to relax on a warm summer evening.
