Our Hawaii Bed & Breakfast and accommodations are only minutes away from new red hot lava flowing down the volcano and into the ocean, thermally heated hot ponds (Ahalanui Park), beautiful coastal parks (Mac Kenzie Park, Isaac Hale Park), Kapoho tidepools for snorkeling, Lava Tree Park, Kehena Black Sand Beach, old Kalapana (covered by lava in 1990) and steam vents in an area full of history. The charming town of Pahoa offers a selection of very good restaurants, stores, and galleries. Hilo, home of the Merrie Monarch Hula Competition, is only 30 minutes away and offers beach parks, Rainbow Falls, the Imiloa Astronomy and Tsunami Museum. Volcanoes National Park, 30 minutes away, is a great place to experience volcanic activity and native Hawaiian plants.

Hale Makamae Hawaii B & B is located in the beautiful and tropical area of Puna on the Big Island of Hawaii, 30 minutes from Hilo (International Airport) and the Volcanoes National Park, 5 minutes to Pahoa, in Leilani Estates. Hale Makamae is a licensed and quality inspected Bed & Breakfast nestled into native Ohia forrest.
Hale Makamae Bed & Breakfast offers comfortable and spacious accommodations surrounded by lush tropical gardens in an ambience of Aloha Spirit and island hospitality. Two suites have kitchenettes and dining/living room areas, and one studio - all with private bathrooms and separate entrances. We can accommodate up to 9 visitors, speak German and English and serve a gourmet island breakfast every morning.

The Makamae Studio is located on the first floor with view and entrance into the garden. With its king-size bed, ceiling fan, private bathroom and separate entrance it is a cozy room for one person or a couple.
Located on the first floor the Garden Suite's entrance and living room are looking out into the garden. The Suite offers a dining/living room area and a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, several small kitchen appliances, dishes, etc. The apartment has its private bathroom and separate entrance. With the queen-size bed in the master bedroom the suite is perfect for a couple. Because of its first floor location the apartment is easily accessible.
Lanai Suite: Located on the second floor master bedroom, living room and balcony are overlooking the garden. The Suite offers two bedrooms, a dining/living room area, and a kitchenette with stove top, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishes and other kitchen items. The futon full-size couch/bed in the living room, the king-size bed in the master bedroom and queen-size bed in the second bedroom provide space for up to 5 guests. A separate entrance and your own bathroom give you full privacy.

Lanai Suite and Garden Suite have a kitchenette equipped with fridge, stove top, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, etc.

A wonderful gourmet island breakfast is served every morning at 8a.m. in our cozy breezeway. Breakfast offers a variety of fruits, meats, cheeses, eggs, cereals, jams, breads, pancakes or french toast.
Kona coffee, tea, juice and milk complete your selection. The breakfast room is a perfect place for our orchids to grow and you will see why the Big Island is also called the Orchid Isle.

Your reservation is complete as soon as we receive a deposit for the first two nights. Should your stay be longer than one week, we require a 50% deposit. The balance is due at check-in and is non-refundable for an early check-out, unless rooms can be re-booked.
We accept Traveler's Checks, Money Order or personal checks (US Bank) for your reservation. Checks should be made out to "Hale Makamae Bed & Breakfast". The remainder of your balance can be also paid in cash once you are here. Please, be advised that all payments have to be made in US currency.
Should you have to cancel your reservation we will refund your deposit, if the cancellation was made at least 30 days prior to your planned arrival.
