| Using This Site |
| |
| Welcome to Direct Holiday Bookings, for those of you that have not used our web site before we have put together the following guidelines to help you.
|
| |
| |
| Finding a Property: |
| |
You can search our property listings either by the number of bedrooms or by the property's location. In addition our site has its own search engine and so you can type in exactly what you are wanting and it will provide a list of matches for you.
It is well worth remembering that you will often find extra sleeping accommodation in the form of sofa beds. This means that a 1 bedroom apartment may sleep up to 4. Also remember that it is worth looking at accommodation with more bedrooms as in many cases these are not always more expensive. |
| |
 |
| |
| Shortlisting the Properties: |
| |
| When you look through our properties, you will notice a unique reference number for each property in the top right hand corner of the page e.g. EL123. You can either make a note of these and when you want to revisit the pages you can type the reference number into the Property Finder box, again in the top right hand corner.
|
| |
 |
| |
| Wish List: |
| |
| Whenever you come across a property that you like, simply click on the 'Add To My Wish List' bar at the bottom of the listing page. This then stores the property for you and when you wish to view your 'Wish List' simply click on the 'Wish List' on the top tool bar.
|
| |
 |
| |
| Contacting the Owner: |
| |
| All of the owner's contact details (telephone, fax, e-mail link) can be found at the bottom of each advertisement. When contacting them by e-mail, please give your name, e-mail address, telephone number and state the number of people and also the dates that you are interested in. If you have any particular questions or requirements that you need to ask, then please add them to this form. It is worth remembering that our home owners are private owners and that they may possibly be away from their e-mail for a few days. Most will reply promptly but we recommend that if you do not get a response within a couple of days that you telephone them. |

| |
| Making a Booking: |
| |
Most home owners have their own way of processing a booking but, as a guideline, you should expect to pay a deposit to secure the booking of between 10% - 50% of the total rental. You would normally pay this either by cheque or by bank transfer and the owner should confirm the booking and receipt of your payment by email or by letter. The balance is usually paid around 8 weeks before the start of the holiday.
Many home owners ask for a breakage deposit with the balance, and this is refundable at the end of the holiday less the cost of any breakages. It is also used to pay for any metered charges for gas/electricity/telephone if they are not included in the rental rate. Please check the cancellation terms with the home owner at the time of booking - deposits are usually non-refundable and they may have a sliding scale of charges for last minute cancellations after the balance has been paid. We strongly recommend that you ask for any terms and conditions in writing |
| |
 |
| |
| Arriving at the Property: |
| |
| Please ask the owner for the address and directions to the property. These are usually sent to you on payment of the balance. Some of our owners will send you a key in advance, some may live on site and may be there to welcome you, whilst others may have a local representative or neighbour who will meet you (in this case it is advisable to make sure that you have the telephone number of the owner and/or their representative so that you can call to let them know if your arrival time is delayed or early). |
| |
 |
| |
| Any Problems: |
| |
| All owners normally leave instructions at the property for contacting either themselves or their local representative. If you have a problem or an item of equipment breaks down, please call them straight away. By doing so will enable them or their representative (will have the local knowledge) to rectify the problem. It is advisable to air any problems during your stay as this gives the owner the chance to ensure your holiday is not spoilt. Please do not save up complaints until after you end your stay. |
