One of the hardest things with any start-up is getting the name right.

You are always trying to balance up being descriptive while being search engine friendly and reflecting what you actually do.  You then have to make sure that your name is not too similar to anyone else, as well as being able to get hold of the obvious misspellings to avoid “losing” traffic.

When we launched in beta mode (live testing) we called ourselves Direct Holiday Bookings. Since then we have moved towards listing agents and private owners on our site, being more of a comparison site rather than focussing solely on booking directly with owners. The main consequence of that is the need to for a new name.

In the next 7 days we will be emailing all of our property owners to advise of our new name and email address, at which point we will be updating the name on our site. For now the site will stay the same, just showing the new name. If you want to be first to find out our new name, we will be doing the launch via Twitter at least 24 hours before anywhere else. Once the new name is rolled out and everything works, our new website will follow soon afterwards and I have to say I am liking it a lot. If you want to be a beta tester for our new site then we are still looking for more testers.
