Description:
Hillview is a low set timber "Queenslander" with a lush tropical garden. There are two sitting rooms and large verandahs on both sides of the house. The garden sitting room and main bedroom open onto the verandah which overlooks the pool. The house is on a quiet street surrounded by large shade trees.

Bathrooms: The ensuite has a spa bath with overhead shower, loo and washbasin.
The second bathroom has a shower and washbasin.
There is a second separate loo.
Kitchen: Large fridge-freezer, electric ceramic top stove, electric oven, microwave,dishwasher. Full complement of quality crockery and cutlery. Knife block with good quality sharp knives. Various stainless steel saucepans, good heavy aluminium teflon frypan, casseroles, baking trays, fruit bowls, pyrex dishes,chopping board, toaster, cordless kettle, coffee plunger. Pretty much everything.

Travel
Cairns International airport is 5km. Hire cars are available from the airport or the city. All the major rental companies are represented plus many others.

Distances
Cairns stretches from Gordonvale 15km south to Palm Cove 30km north. Kuranda on the tablelands is 25km, Babinda which sits below the 2 highest mountains in Queensland is 50km and Innisfail is 80km. North of Cairns, along the beautiful Captain Cook Highway is Port Douglas and Mossman, about 70km.

Further details
Edgehill village has cafes, PO, newsagent, bottleshop etc but the nearest large supermarket is the IGA near the Pease/Anderson roundabout (1km) and the Raintrees shopping centre on McCoombe St (2km).

Booking notes
We require a deposit of A$300 and the full payment at least a month before arrival. At that time the deposit becomes a cleaning/damages bond. Payment is usually by direct deposit. We do take cheques. We also take PayPal but there is a 3% surcharge because we don't have inbuilt fee recovery in our prices. For stays of a month or longer we may require a larger bond.

Changeover day
Generally, guests can arrive at anytime by arrangement. We meet all guests at the house. Departure is generally 10am but depending on bookings we may allow late departure.

Golf
Cairns Golf club (5 minutes) and Paradise Palms (30 minutes).

Fishing
Fishing is available off the wharf - either at the Marlin Marina (5 min) or the commercial trawler wharf (5 min).

Scuba Diving
Cairns is one of the great scuba destinations in the world. Training facilities for open water up to instructor standard are among the best in the world.

Beach
The beaches are north of Cairns. The nearest at Machan's beach is about 15 minutes. That is the first of many beach suburbs all the way (35 minutes) to Palm Cove.
Cairns city has a huge saltwater pool right on the Esplanade. It is free, there is plenty of parking ($0.80 per hr) and there are countless restaurants/fastfood shops within 200m.

Wine Tasting
There are several wineries in North Queensland which make wines and spirits from tropical fruits. The most well known are: Paradise Estate Wines and Murdering Point Winery near Mission Beach, near Mareeba are de Brueys Boutique Wines, Mt Uncle Distillery and Golden Pride Wines, at Ingham is Pacific Blue Winery and at Mossman is Shannonvale Tropical Fruit Winery.

There are steps into the house and one step within the house.

Outside
Timber decks front and back of the house with seating for 8 people and a gas BBQ on the garden deck. The pool is private and surrounded by plants and palms.
