The Channel Islands are magical islands in the Bay of St Malo and at the closest point Jersey is just 14 miles from the French coast. Warmed by the waters of the Gulf Stream, spring arrives early and summer lingers on. The weather here consistently tops the UK resort charts for sunshine hours and temperature.
Jersey well known for its magnificent sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, sheltered coves and crystal clear waters. Inland, winding, shaded lanes take you through wooded valleys and patchwork countryside.
Bouley Bay is located on Jersey's north coast at the base of a winding hill used occasionally in the summer for hill climb races. The property is ideally located on Jersey's north coast cliff path network and close to water sport activities in the bay.
Jersey is thoroughly British but with a distinct French flavour. Although firecely loyal to the Crown for more than 800 years, the French influence lingers on in local surnames and place and street names. The capital St Helier is packed with continental style bistros, restaurants and pavement cafes.
You do not need a passport to visit the Channel Islands unless you intend taking a day trip to France which is a short hop away by sea or air. You will need proof of identity for flights and sea travel to the Island. There is a reciprocal health care agreement with the UK. As on the UK mainland the currency is sterling but Euros are accepted in many shops and other outlets.
There is plenty to do in the Island from guided walks to a visit to one of the Jersey Heritage Trust's six historic sites, Durrell or the Jersey War Tunnels. Day excursions can also be made to the other islands.

In fact the stunning location of the fort immediately lends itself for use as holiday accommodation. The fort is split into two separate areas. A German searchlight position, added during the Occupation years of the Second World War, on the lower level houses the kitchen and dining area with ‘patio’ doors opening on to a balcony area with wonderful views of Bouley Bay, the Echréhous Reef and the distant Normandy coast of France. This area can also be used for extra sleeping accommodation should you want to share the experience with friends.
On the lower level of the 1836 guardhouse there is a spacious bathroom and a second bedroom, while the delightful main bedroom, with open fireplace, is on the upper floor. The Fort sleeps six comfortably but can accommodate eight and includes a double bedroom (plus daybed), adult bunks in the second bedroom and a sofa bed in the sitting room. The fort also boasts two semi-private garden spaces for long summer evenings and drawn out barbeques. This accommodation is ideal for families wanting self-catering with a difference, sailors, fishermen, divers and those with an appreciation of history and heritage looking for an unusual holiday destination. From walking Jersey’s outstanding cliff paths to swimming in the sea you are not far from any holiday pursuit that takes your fancy or simply relaxing in the quiet away from the bustle of home.
