This area at the foot of the Giant Mountains has a lot to offer for an active holiday. – By bike or on foot, you can fully enjoy the splendid nature that abounds all around. – The historical town of Trutnov, with its beautiful square, renaissance and baroque buildings, castle and museum is a must. Here you will also find plenty of facilities for shopping and going out. – The "Dolce Vita" natural swimming pool with waterslides lies close to Trutnov and is a part of the lake, around which you can walk. - Hostinné has a beautiful tower in its center as well as a sport center with, among other things, tennis, squash, sauna, aerobics and fitness facilities. – Spend a day outdoors at the zoo and safari park in Dvůr Králové (safari only in the high season). – There are numerous castles and fortresses in the area. Kuks Castle is probably the most impressive of them. Close to Kuks there is "Betlém", a Christmas manger carved into the rocks. - Nová Paka has a museum of precious stones and there are deposits of agate and amethyst in the neighbourhood. – A day trip to the Rocks of Adršpach and Teplice with its waterfalls, boat excursions, rock climbing and hiking routes is certainly worth a try. – Spend a day in Mladé Buky enjoying golf at the 27-hole golf course with driving range. – Or pay a visit to small tourist places like Janské Lázně and Pec pod Sněžkou, from where a cable lift will take you to the highest mountain in the Czech Republic: Sněžka (Snow Mountain - 1,602 meters). Unforgettable views open from the mountain tops in the whole area. - In Špindlerův Mlyn there are also plenty of activities during the summer. You can swim (indoors) at an aqua park with 3 slides, a sauna, whirlpool, rapids, etc. You can drive quads (a motor vehicle with 4 wheels) on a special track, go tobogganing on the toboggan run (in the summer and in the winter), climb at the “Monkey Park”, do abseiling or a go for a [round] trip on a tourist train. A go-as-you-please ticket is available for this purpose.
