The combination of the Pyrenean scenery and the Mediterranean climate make for a wonderful holiday all year round at Maison Famille. We really have it all, breathtaking views, peace and quiet, and unspoiled countryside. There is also much to do all year round. It's a paradise for those searching for activities or just relaxation. Enjoy the flavour of French life in our lovingly restored home and explore the sights in an area that is outstandingly beautiful, steeped in history and has its own microclimate.

Durban-Sur-Arize is a rural location near to the Village of La Bastide-de-Serou that has shops/restaurants/bars/post office/bank. We are situated between the towns of Foix, St Girons and St Lizier were you can find many shops and restaurants to choose from as well as the bustling weekly markets.

If you desire shopping, Toulouse is 60 minutes by car or train. Duty free shopping is also available in Andorra only 90 minutes away by car.

We are surrounded by beautiful countryside which offers a variety of activities.

If activities are not your thing then the history of the area can be seen in places like the pretty village of St Lizier, the town of Foix with its magnificent Castle, the caves at Maz d'azil, the ruins at Montsegur (the last stand of the cathars), the under ground river at Labouiche and much more.

Our home is full of charm and character with open fires to warm you in the winter and superb grounds with well established trees to shade you in the summer. The pool is waiting for you to enjoy during the lovely hot weather.

We are able to cater for singles, couples or families with children in our large home.

Our dining room overlooks the private front gardens, whilst our comfortable and relaxing sitting rooms ensures a place of peace and tranquility following the activities of the day.

Type Description
Bedrooms: Room 1
An en-suite spacious double bedroom with a king size bed. The bedroom has a sitting area that can also be used to accommodate additional guests.

Room 2
A spacious en-suite bedroom that can accommodate from 2 to 6 guests. This room has a king size bed. An ideal family room.

Room 3
A second specious bedroom that can accommodate from 2 to 5 guests. Adjacent to the room there is a private shower room with toilet facilities.

Room 4
A double room with a king size bed and en-suite facilities. This room can be booked together with room 3 to accommodate a larger booking.

Cots, bed gaurd and baby equipment all available on request.
Bathrooms: All our rooms have en-sutie facilities or a private bathroom.
Kitchen: A fully equped working kitchen that is used for preperation of breakfasts and evening meals by the owners of the property.
We are able to store food stuff and drinks in our fridges or frezzers for guests but do not supply a cooking area for guests use.
If you have young children or special requirements please do not hesitate to ask and all the facilities can be made available.
Living Rooms: Our comfortable Lounge offers sofas, television, DVD, Video and a small libary for your enjoyment.

Our snug contains the large wood burning stove and comfortable sofas . There is access to the internet should you require it. A variety of board games are available.
Cleaning/towels/linen/maid Service: All linen and towels are provided. We just ask that you do not use the room towels for use in the pool. Beach towels can be provided if you do not have your own.
Utility room: We have washing , drying and ironing facilities and are able to do laundry on behalf of guests at a small charge.
Other: We provide sun beds and outside furniture for you to enjoy the use of the pool and relax in the sunshine. There is a variety of outdoor games and childrens toys.
Sleeping capacity: a lovingly restored home that can sleep upto 15 persons in 4 bedrooms

Carcassonne airport is 63 km and about 1 and half hoursdrive away.

Toulouse airport is 65 km away and about 1 and half hours drive away.

Car hire from the airport or your own vehicle is highly recommended.

Distances
We are 5 minutes by car to the nearest village of La Bastide de serou. This has post office/bank/butchers/bakers/small supermarket/hairdressers.

We have several restuarants within 5-10 mins drive of maison famille

The nearest large towns for shopping and a large variety of restaurants are Foix and St Girons that are a 25 minute drive from Masion famille.

Booking notes

Changeover day
We do not have change over days your stay with us is totally flexible. We just ask that you give us a rough idea of your time of arrival and departure so we can work around your needs.

Golf
The 18 hole course at La Bastide de Serou is 10 mins drive away.

Beach
The nearest beach is at a lake in Puivert. It has reteraunt facilities, toilet, tennis and football courts it also has a grassed area for picnics. It is just over an hours drive from Maison Famille.

The nearest sea side resort beach to Maison Famille is Narbonne and about 1 and half to 2 hours drive away.

Ski
there are several areas for skiing that can be accessed from Maison famille and are between 40 and 90 mins away. Guzet is the nearest followed by Ax Les Thermes and Andorra.

Accessibility
Maison famille is not suitable for wheel chair access as all bedroom are on the 1st and second floors.

Outside
The pool is an above ground pool that is shared with other guests staying at Maison famille. The pool is 7 x 4 metres. There are tables,chairs and sunbeds for your use and enjoyment.
