Amaliapolis is 50km south of the lively university city of Volos and mid-way between Athens and Thessaloniki, making it an ideal base for touring the mainland and visiting Delphi, Meteora, Dion and other archaeological sites. The Pelion peninsula is also extremely scenic and well worth a visit.In winter there is even a ski resort at Agriolefkes on Pelion.
The western side of the Pagasitic Gulf and Magnesia in general are largely undiscovered by foreign tourists but popular with Greeks. As well as the village beach itself there are several nice sandy beaches within 30 mins driving distance of the village and also archaeological sites and scenic mountain villages. Inland you will find the plains of Thessaly where cotton is grown.

Fly to either Athens or Thessaloniki airport. Car hire is recommended although not essential. There are also charter flights to Nea Anchialos Volos Airport (20km) May-September with twice weekly flights with AirBerlin from Germany and Austria and weekly from the UK with Monarch.

In the village centre you will find a choice of cafes/bars and tavernas, with excellent fish, three of which stay open all year, all within walking distance of the villa. The village also has two bakeries and two general stores. In summer Amaliapolis is popular with holidaying Greek families. You can experience the 'real' Greece here largely untouched by mass market tourism.
You can also take a boat trip to the island of Skiathos with its famous sandy beaches from the nearby village of Achillion. The area of Magnesia is rich in archaeological sites including Ancient Thebes, Prehistoric Dimini, Sesklo and Dimitras. Volos is a bustling small city with a wide range of shops, restaurants and ferry links to the nearby islands of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skopelos.

Beach
The village beach is about 7 mins walk from the apartments and is sandy and gently sloping - making it very suitable for young children. There is also a children’s playground, 5-a-side football pitch and volleyball court next to the beach. In high season there are 2 beach bars.
Accessibility
No special facilities for disabled but people with mobility problems might prefer the garden apartment as there is only one step to gain access to it.
Outside
Lovely enclosed garden with olive and other fruit trees. Tables, chairs and 2 barbecues for eating al fresco plus a couple of garden swings.
