Europe’s westernmost village Fajã Grande, located on a coastal plain at the foot of a steep cliff, is both lively and sleepy, depending on the season. It gets very lively during the summer months, as it boasts a small harbor and an equally small pool, which makes Fajã Grande an extremely popular bathing venue with a nice picnic and sunbathing area and it is also said to have the most beautiful sunsets of the Azores. During winter months, it becomes very quiet, ideal for everybody who looks primarily for peace and tranquillity.
The village also provides great views on the island’s steep, several hundred meters high northwest coast, with many imposing waterfalls bringing water from the high plateau to the coastal plain beneath the rock face, making it extremely fertile.
About 1.5 km offshore lies the tiny rock islet "Ilhéu do Monchique", which marks the western end of Europe. Once, during the period of navigation by astronomy, Flores island was an important point of reference for the verification and calibration of the navigation instruments of ships. Between here and America, there is nothing else than the Atlantic.

Settled in the middle of the quiet town of Fajã Grande on the west coast of Flores, Casa Via d'Água is surrounded by it's own garden and neighbouring fields, with wonderful views of the countryside stretching up to the dramatic cliffs beneath which Fajã Grande nestles. This charming cottage is reached only by a short footpath, ensuring peace and privacy, but it is located in the heart of the village, very close to the small shops, restaurants and the sea (port & swimming area).
The cottage has been recently restored and furnished for use as self catering accommodation. This year 2009, the house will feature 2 double ensuite bedrooms, a living room, a cosy kitchen and a large garden. Each bedroom has a private entrance; both are equipped with a large double bed, sofa bed, CD player and hair-dryer. The living room has a TV set, DVD player, CD player and radio, as well as some Cds, DVDs, books and games (cards, chess, darts). The large kitchen is well equipped with modern kitchenware, stove, fridge, barbecue set and an original wood burning stove. A washing machine is available. Additionally, it’s easy to build camping tents in the large garden.

- Renting the Whole House: when the same family or group is renting both bedrooms, the whole house will belong exclusively to the clients, in order to fully enjoy the Via d’Água experience. Camping in the garden is also possible. Free weekly cleaning.
- Or 2 Independent Rooms: when rented independently, each double bedroom will share the garden, the kitchen and the living room, large enough for all! Free weekly cleaning.
Deposit: as a guarantee of your reservation, we ask for a deposit of 30% of the total cost of your stay (down payment). If you love fishing, don't miss the opportunity to fish in the middle of the ocean from the kayak, catches are almost guaranteed (you never know though!...) and you can go along with a guide in just one boat or we can prepare a couple of fishing-kayaks. Bring your own rod, reel & line or rent ours and use the barbecue at home to grill your prey!
Fishing from a motor boat can also be arranged.
