Within easy reach of the Knights Templar town of Tomar, the University town of Coimbra where old and new combine, Fatima with it's infamous shrine to mention but a few historical locations. Silver Coast beaches are beautiul and can be reached in approx. 40 mins, from the lively Figuera de Foz to the quieter Sao Pedro de Moel, with it's charming Cornish town-like feel, golden sands seem to stretch for miles. With a climate that can reach more extremes than some coastal areas you can take pleasure in al fresco dining for many months of the year, it is not uncommon during some of the winter months to be able to relax outdoors with a good book a drink of your choice or just simply enjoy the views.

From the ultra modern kitchen upwards, the villa cleverly incorporates the bedrock on which it stands into a stunning holiday home, ingeniously designed to maximize the circulation of light & air. This all culminates in the lounge which is a fantastic living space, with high vaulted ceiling & open circulation area leading to 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. This cool, bright and spacious room can be transformed within seconds into an extension of your outside space by sliding back the glass doors onto the south facing full length balcony where there are table and chairs so that you can relax and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple whilst losing yourself in the spectacular scenery, especially watching the sunsets. The "coolest" room (in both definitions of the word) is the "bedrock" bedroom. This large light and airy bedroom is wonderfully quirky & seems to morph out of the stone boulders within. It is very private with it's own front door and en-suite bathroom. Such a lovely room will almost certainly cause arguments as to who occupies it!

Cleaning/towels/linen/maid Service:
Towels (except beach) & Linen are provided.For peace of mind the the owners use a property management team who will ensure that the villa is thoroughly cleaned for your arrival and that all services are switched on and working. Cleaing and a change of linen is done weekly.

Many airlines offer cheap flights from the UK, flying into Lisbon or Porto, both with a flight duration of just over 2 hours. From either airport it is an easy drive to Bedrock using the new motorways. Flying into Faro is another option giving more choice of airports to fly from. Roads in Portugal are quiet and well maintained and even the A1 is comparatively stress free. Car hire is of course estential, not only for getting to and from your accommodation,where you will be given good directions, but also for the many places of interest near your holiday location.

Booking notes
A non refundable deposit of 30% is required at the time of booking with the balance paid in full 1 month before the holiday start date.
Changeover day
Saturday is a prefered day for arrival but we are prepared to be flexible. Due to house cleaning on changeover days, arrivals should be no earlier than 4pm and departure no later than 10 am.
Golf
There is a small 9 hole course near Coimbra (approx 50km) The acclaimed Prai d'el Rey course (approx 70km) and others many others a little farther afield.
Beach
The Silver Coast beaches are beautiful & can be reeached in approx. 40 minutes. From the lively but not crowded resort of Figuera de Foz (especially July & August) to the quieter coastal gem of Sao Pedro Moel, the waves from the Atlantic sweep onto miles of fine golden sand, uncrowded & unspoiled. There is something here for everyone: adrenalin junkie surfers, beachcombers, lovers & incurable romantics who simply want to experience the splash of the waves around thier feet whilst watching the sunset melt on the horizen.
Ski
Very limited due to the climate however it is possible to ski in the Serra da Estrella National Park and mountain range (approx 2 hrs drive)
Accessibility
Wheelchair access is possible to bedroom 3 with en suite (shower, wc & hand basin), kitchen, dining, BBQ and parking areas. The lounge, upper bedrooms and family bathroom are not accesible due to a flight of stairs.
Outside
The spectacular garden with its ancient olive & fig trees and paths which meander between huge limestone boulders, many of which have been placed for effect by the strong onwers. It is very tranquil and totally private with special areas in which to relax. One such example is under the shade of the old bay tree which provides shelter from the heat of the afternoon sun. Beer under the bay comes highly recommended.
