The villa is in a beautiful natural valley ideal for either relaxing or exploring: there is a wide variety of great walks in the valley and adjacent mountains.

Nearby attractions include the famous and spectacular valley of Logarska Dolina and the high plateaus of Velika Planina and Golte. The Dreta river flows only 200 metres from the house with good trout fishing (you need a licence).

A number of museums, spas and restaruants are a short drive away. Also nearby is rafting, kayaking, horse riding, skiing (15km) and some cycle hire.

The central location makes a great base for day trips to the capital of Ljubljana, the famous Postjona caves, the smaller cities of Celje, Maribor and Ptuj, the eastern wine trail and, for a longer day, the coast.

Savinjsko is well known in Slovenia for is spectular alpine scenery and is very popular amongst local people, however, it still relatively 'undiscovered' by foreign travel companies.

Bedrooms: The master bedroom features a large double bed. It has a door that opens onto its own large balcony with a view of mountains and woodland. From the balcony, steps gently descend to the upper terraced garden. The bed has an adjustable base to give each sleeper different levels of support.

Bedroom 2 is a double bedroom with an Easterly view from the window to give a nice view of the sunrise in the morning. The wardrobe and beds are locally hand made. They can be pushed
together to form a large double bed.

Bedroom 4 has slightly softer mattresses make it a particularly suitable room for children. It has a Westerly facing window and a skylight to make it a particularly bright room.
Bathrooms: The downstairs bathroom has all new tiles and fittings and has a toilet, basin and a powerful shower with enough hot water for a large family.

The convenient upstairs bathroom has a shower, toilet, basin and with all new tiles and fittings including solid wood units.
Kitchen: The spacious and bright new kitchen includes a small dining area and features handmade solid wood units. It has: an electric oven with gas hobs and an extracting cooker hood; a large fridge freezer; microwave, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. There is a washing machine in the garage. There is enough cutlery and crockery for 12 people, a variety of utensils are included and there are many cupboards to store food and drink. The kitchen also has a useful serving hatch into the lounge. The tiled floor enables easy cleaning.
Living Rooms: The lounge comfortably seats 8 people on new sofas that wrap around the room. The lounge has plenty of information provided about the local area and what it offers you. Choose a novel to read from the range of english books available. If it should rain or the evening turns cool, enjoy watching one of the dvds from the large collection. You can watch many English satellite channels including ITV, Channel 5 and most of the main radio stations. There are some CDs available with a player and separate radio. There are a few games and puzzles too. If it should get cold or you go off-season you can put wood in the cast iron stove - it soon warms much of the house up!

The sofa bed enables up to 10 people to stay in the house.
Cleaning/towels/linen/maid Service: Clean towels and bed linen are provided at a cost of 6 Euros per person.

40 Euros is required to be paid at the end of each stay for cleaning of the house.
Utility room: The bright dining room features a 100cm wide solid wood table that extends to 270cm to seat 10 to 12 people. It features a tiled floor for easy cleaning and includes a pleasant view of the garden.
Other: The roomy landing includes a pleasant seating area that is ideal for settling down quietly with a book.

The south facing covered terrace allows you to cnjoy your meals in the sun from dawn to dusk with a superb panoramic view of the mountains. Or just settle down with a good book and relax. If the sun gets a little hot then simply pull your chair back a bit to let the roof give you some shade. It will also enable you to continue using the terrace should it rain. The terrace is a particularly good spot for barbeques!

Notes on accommodation:
Those guests staying in the winter months should note that the house has two powerful wood burning stoves and electric heaters but does not have central heating. Guests should be prepared to make up the fires with the free wood provided to stay warm and cosy if it gets really cold outside.

There are many easy options to travel to the house.

Drive times from these airports are as follows:

* 3 hours: Venice airport (Easy Jet), travelling from London, Stansted airport

Alternatively, you can drive your own car across Europe to the house. We live in South Cheshire and we do this once a year when we stay for 2 weeks.

On arrival you should be welcomed by a Dutch resident of Slovenia who manages the house. He will show you to the property.

Distances
The nearest bar that serves fresh trout is 700m away.

Bocna is the nearest village and is about 1.5km away. It has a small supermarket and two bars.

Gornji Grad is a small town with shops, restaurants and a bank and is about 3km away.

Mozirje is a town with many larger shops, restaurants, banks etc. and is about 12km away. It is the location of the national flower garden.

The nearest City is Celje which is about 35-40mins drive.

There are many places of interest that are easily drivable: Logarska Dolina is a stunning national park and is about 30km away; Velika Planina is a superbly scenic plateau and is about 25km away; there are many splendid mountain walks only a few minutes drive from the house. Local activities include rafting, horse riding, fishing etc. Day trips are easily possible to Ljubljana, Bled, Postonja Caves, Maribor etc.

Booking notes
Bookings are reservable with a deposit of 25% of the total price. The balance is payable 30 days before the booking commences. Monies paid in pounds sterling can be arranged by bank transfer in the UK or by cheque. Monies paid in Euros are arranged by bank transfer to a Slovenian bank.

House swap
House swap considered. Any location considered but must have sleeping capacity for at least 4 people.

Changeover day
Saturday. Another day may be possible by negotation.

Fishing
The Dreta river flows only 200 meters from the house with good trout fishing (you need to buy a local licence). For more information check the website flyfish-slovenia.com.

Beach
The nearest beach is Piran about 170 km away.

Ski
Golte is a wonderful mountain plateau that offers excellent skiing and walking about 14km away. The mountain is drivable but is also served by frequent gondolas throughout July and August and the ski season, making the villa a good base for a winter family holiday. Other ski options are Velika Planina about 25km away or the international ski complex at Rogla which is around an hours drive away.

Wine Tasting
The villa is located in the western edge of the Slovenian wine trail and is therefore convenient for wine tasting day trips.

Accessibility
Please note: that the internal stairs are alpine chalet style and are quite steep so may not be ideal for the very elderly or infirm.

Outside
The two tier garden is lawned and has two apple trees and a large walnut tree. There is plenty of room for parking.
