Set in the heart of rural unspoilt Spain close to the borders of Malaga, Cordoba & Granada provinces, La Casita is the ideal retreat for those wanting a get away from it all holiday whilst being perfectly situated for easy touring access of the main cultural centres of the region. Walk down to the tiny vilage of La Parrilla with its typical Andalucian bar (tapas available), small olive mill & ancient chapel or visit Villanueva de Algaidas with its restaurants, tapas bar, shops and amenities. Visit Iznajar with its fascinating steeply winding narrow streets, Moorish castle and church offers many little bars, restaurants a dozens of small shops.
The property is situated within a unspoilt rural location which produces some of Spain's finest olive oil & you may experience some agricultural noise from time to time. The olive harvest usually lasts from late Dec to April but can vary. Walking: There are many local walks of varying degrees of difficulty, with tracks & trails around the lake where stunning views can be enjoyed. For more serious walkers the GR7 (Gran recorrido) footpath crosses Andalucia passes close by into Cordoba province via the beautiful and dramatic Sierras Subbetica Parque Natural. The El Torcal Parque Natural withs its remarkable limestone rock formations, abundant flora & fauna and incredible views towards the coast lies south of Antequera. Approx. 50 mins. Fuente De Piedra with its huge lagoon & nature reserve famous for its many Flamingos & at least 30 species of aquatic birds is approx 40 mins away. The Washington Irving route. Follow the route taken by the 19th century travel writer from Seville to the Alhambra, Granada described in his 'Tales of the Alhambra' See Montefrio & Alhama de Granada with their Moorish castles in stunning locations.
Horseriding/trail riding nearby, donkey sanctuary,
wolf park & lake beach.
Visit the Science Museum in Granada, Selwo Marina Safari park, Tivoli World Theme park & Aqua Velis water park on the coast.

Nearby is the historic town of Iznajar with its 8th century Moorish castle high on a rocky outcrop overlooking its breathtaking 32km lake known as the Lake of Andalucia surrounded by hills & mountains. The charming town of Antequera with many buildings of architectural interest & the nearby stunning El Torcal parque natural lie 30/40 mins away. For those interested in outdoor pursuits, the lake offers excellent fishing, birdwatching & watersports such as swimming, sailing, canoeing, pedaloes an windsurfing from its sandy beach in summer. The local area & nearby Subbetica parque natural is perfect walking & mountain biking country. Ideally located for visiting Granada, Cordoba & Seville. Granada airport 45 mins, Malaga 1 hr, Golf course 30 mins.

Bathrooms: Fully tiled en suite shower/wc with corner shower basin, wash hand basin and WC. Tiled floor.Window.
Kitchen: Fitted kitchen area within Living room having fitted cupboards. 4 ring gas hob, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave oven with grill, kettle, all necessary crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.
Living Rooms: Living room with kitchen area (described seperately) with dining table and chairs. Sofa/day bed (to accommodate 3rd person) beamed ceiling, window.
Cleaning/towels/linen/maid Service: All towels (except pool towels) and bed linen provided and cleaned on a weekly basis. La Casita is also cleaned on a weekly basis.

High chair and travel cot available on request subject to a small charge. Swimming pool normally in use April-October. Can vary subject to weather. The pool is shared with the guests from our other apartment and ourselves but we respect your privacy and normally use the pool at other times. Clothes washing service provided at additional cost.

Malaga airport is approx. 1 hour, Granada airport 45 mins.
We recommend Ryanair for flights to Granada from Stansted & Liverpool, Monarch for flights to Granada and Malaga from Gatwick.
Easyjet, Bristol, Gatwick, Luton to Malaga.
Flybe, Exeter and Southampton to Malaga.
There are also many other charter tour operators offering flights to Malaga.
The journey from both Malaga and Granada airports are very easy being motorway for most of the way.

Distances
Local village of La Parrilla is just a short 5 min walk away. Villanueva de Algaidas 10/15 min car journey. Taxis available. Nearest local shop 5.8km. Iznajar town 15/20 mins journey, Antequera 30 mins, We are well situated for exploring the Andalucia region. Granada 1 hour, Cordoba 1.5 hours, Seville just under 2 hours. Day trip to Madrid?! New high speed 2.5 hour rail link from Antequera to Madrid now open.

This area offers excellent bird watching and we have teamed up with a local experienced birder who offers bird guiding half or full day trips. Please contact us for more details and to book ahead. Also guided walks available.

A fabulous find far away from the frantic pace of working life in England. Nice to be in striking distance of the great cities of Andalucia & the coast but great to be near an unspoilt village with no other tourists around! Golf
Within 30 to 40 mins is an impressive 18 hole golf course set amidst superb mountain scenery at Antequera. The Costa del Sol offers a large choice of courses within one to one and a half hours drive away.

Fishing
Fishing available in Lake Iznajar some 20 minutes drive away, subject to licence

Beach
The lake at Iznajar has its own large sandy beach where you can swim, sail, canoe or windsurf from in the summer months. Pedaloes are also for hire during summer.
There is also a beach side restaurant/cafe for refreshments.

Ski
We are approx. 1 and 3/4 hours away from the stunning Sierra Nevada mountain range situated close to Granada.
The impressive Sierra Nevada ski resort enjoys a longer than average season and offers skiing for all different levels of ability. There is also a dedicated snowboarding area, husky dog sleigh rides and snowbikes for hire! Plenty of good ski equipment hire shops.

Wine Tasting
Whisky Masterclass is available.
The Masterclass take several hours and emcompasses production of this noble and complex soverign drink. Even the most experienced tippler has been amazed.

Accessibility

Outside
La Casita has its own tiled terrace to the front with pergola where lovely open views over the surrounding olive clad hills can be enjoyed.
Patio furniture and parasol are provided along with a barbecue. Own access via gate and steps.

A short distance away (to one side of our Cortijo) is an 8m x 4m swimming pool with Roman steps to one end and surrounding tiled terrace from where beautiful views can be enjoyed. Here there is patio furniture with parasol and sun loungers. The pool is shared with guests from Casa Limon (our self catering cottage) and occasionally with the owners.
