The famous village of Stolberg is situated about 12 km away. In this village you will find numerous half-timbered houses. This style is seen frequently in Schwenda. This house is also a half-timbered house. Traveling in the direction of Stolberg, you will pass the Great Auerberg, 580 meters high. On the hill stands the largest steel cross in the World (Joseph Cross). About 15 km away you will find a swimming pool. There is a reservoir in Kelbra, about 25 km away. Anglers can go fishing in a pond in Auleben. The Harz is a magnificent area bounded by large pine forests - characteristic of the landscape of Norway. The Harz was divided during former times (the GDR period) and the Hochharz National Park was almost entirely in the eastern part. Here you can go on magnificent hikes. On these hikes, you may meet various forest residents such as deer, wild pigs, squirrels, or perhaps even a capercaillie (grouse). The highest peak, the Brocken, 1142 meters high, is located in the middle of the park and is a popular hiking destination. From 1961 this mountain was occupied by the Russian army so it was an absolutely forbidden area. On Sunday, 3 December 1989 the door was opened to this area once again. On foot or by bicycle the Brocken is a serious tour. You can climb the Brocken 3 ways: from Torfhaus (the easiest ascent), from Schierke (the shortest, Ecker through the hole) and from Bracknell (the longest and most difficult). If you would just like to stand on top and enjoy the wonderful view, you can take the old damp railway, the Brocken train. From Sierke you can also take the 'Kremser' (horse-drawn carriage).

This detached house is situated on a site with an area of 1500 m2. It sits on a hillside, on the outskirts of the village. The house has a terrace of approximately 30 m2 and a garden with a barbecue. The house is completely at your disposal. The garden has several plum and apple trees. Furthermore, there are numerous large pine trees as well as some raspberry bushes. The village of Schwenda has about 600 residents and lies at an altitude of about 400 meters, which means that there is often snow in winter. True slopes can be found about 30 miles away. The village has the appearance of a typical small German village. Here you will find a butcher, a baker, a flower shop and a restaurant. This is an ideal accommodation for people who love nature, especially forests and mountains, but also for those who are looking for a spacious cottage with a bit of comfort.

Booking notes
The rental period runs from Saturday to Saturday. Arrival between 16:00 to 18:00 pm, and departure to 10.00 am. On arrival, a deposit of € 100, - is requested. In addition, a cleaning fee of € 50, - is brought into the account. If at the end of your stay we find no damage to or in the apartment, you receive the deposit back upon departure, after deduction of all charges (electricity charges and other fees, such as consumer DSL connection and rental of bed / bath, kitchen towels and wipes). It is not allowed to rent the house with more people, as was agreed. At the booking enter the number of people, including children and babies, which will use the apartment. If there are changes, you must notify us immediately. A processing fee is deducted in the bill. It is not allowed to camp on the area. A violation of any of the above rules entails the lease expiration without any right to reimbursement of expenses. Smoking is not allowed. You have to clean the apartment and leave without damage. (Broom clean: no dirty dishes, refrigerator, garbage disposal).
