The climate is mild and mellow and so is the character of the land and its people. Spring, with its profusion of wildflowers, comes very early. Summers are long; winters are short.
The air is free of pollution and light breezes prevent even the hottest midsummer days from becoming oppressive.
The Algarvian lifestyle is easy-going, fatalistic and unfettered by concern for time.
The Algarve's healthy climate, pure air are nicely complemented by wholesome, locally-caught and home-grown food.
In particular, there is a wonderfully wide range of seafood, including all sorts of clams, prawns and lobster, and delicious fresh fish such as swordfish, tuna, sea bass and sea bream.
Eating out in the restaurants of Santa Luzia is all the more delightful because Portuguese wines are so good and so reasonably priced.
We have a number of excellent markets nearby (a detailed list will be in the apartment) where you can pick up some real bargains.
There is an interesting car-boot near the beach of Fuzeta where you will find some unusual items. Ayamonte, 20 mins (the Spanish border) town has a similar market every Saturday.
Tourist resort towns with entertainment, bars, restaurants and casinos only a 10 - 40 minute drive away (depending which town you would like to visit).
Finally, For those of you who do not want to just stay on the beach and want to see more of the original Algarve then a circular drive through Moncarapacho, Estói, Olhão and Tavira is well worth doing, with the A22 link this makes a good half day visit.

Your holiday apartment has a spacious non-overlooked terrace with stunning romantic sea views and is superbly positioned by the waters edge of the Ria Formosa in the unspoilt fishing village of Santa Luzia, 4km west of Tavira. A perfect location for beach lovers or take long leisurely walks to discover the marvellous world of fauna and flora that lives in this part of the Eastern Algarve coast, a bird watchers paradise. Conveniently adjacent to the new promenade with all amenities including fresh seafood restaurants, small snack bars, grocery stores, pharmacy, bank and small shops. The white sandy beaches are safe, gently sloping and can be reached by ferry boat (25 Mts), which you can see sitting from your terrace or a short walk to catch the miniature railway to Barril beach near Pedras del Rei complex which has a swimming pool. There is a built-in BBQ for the evening meal, if you chose, with a glass of fine wine to take in the breathtaking sunsets.

Faro Airport - 35 Kilometres, approximately 30 minutes.
Distances
Within 4kms Tavira offers a great range of shops and supermarkets (Pingo Doce, Lidle), bars/restaurants abound many specialising in seafood. The beautiful river Gilão runs through the centre of town and on those warm summer nights public entertainment can be found in the park by the river.
Booking notes
A deposit of 25% is required on booking with the balance due 8 weeks prior to departure, or immediately if booking is made within 8 weeks of departure date.
A breakages deposit of £100 (payable with your balance) which will be refunded within 5 days of return of the apartment keys to us providing our agent has found everything to be in order after checking the apartment inventory.
Please, strictly no smoking, except on the terraces.
Changeover day
Saturday or Thursday, we are flexible, please ask.
For early arrivals, arrangements can easily be made to leave the bags at the apartment.
Beach
The beach Islands of the Ria Formosa are renowned for being peaceful, uncrowded, safe, unpolluted and extend for 12 kms.
Santa Luzia beach is 5 minutes by regular ferry boat; you can see it come in from your terrace.
Barril beach by walking or alternatively a short miniature train ride from Pedras d’El Rei, a great adventure for children.
There are beach restaurants, café bars and shower facilities.
The renting of boats, windsurf boards etc are available.
Golf
Not only has the Algarve the best golfing climate in Europe it also has some of the best courses and facilities.
To the West, Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo courses are within 30 mins of the Apartment and Vilamoura a further 15 mins further on.
Benamor, Quinta de Cima and the Quinta de Ria are within 10 minutes and Castro Marim a further 15 minutes.
Outside
Our non-overlooked large terrace with beautiful views of the Ria Formosa is accessable via double patio doors of the kitchen and bedroom.
There is a built in BBQ, patio table with 4 chairs and parasol.
Sit, relax and enjoy the wonderful sunsets.
